I think - when observing diatoms - high quality phase contrast may be sometimes better than DIC...

Beautiful set again. The last two are super ! I like taking photographs of Diatoms in phase contrast too. This technique gives very nice colours of these creatures indeed. Unfortunately my recent high power phase objectives don't work enough well.
