I captured two different urchin`s spines at 100x and 200x magnification. The black spine is from Diadema, the brown one I am not sure.

Very nice! Don't recall seeing this subject here before.

Was the second one a PMAX stack? If so did you try the same only in DMAP? Really nice but the highlights on the tips "bleed" into the darker areas as sometimes occurs in PMAX. Perhaps a "combo" of the two methods. Very nice shot... it would be worth the effort to clean it up.

IIRC it was a PMAX stacking. Those highlights appear in the single frames too - my diffuser did not seem to be sufficient for this. I will try it with a DMAP stacking.

My guess is, these guys keep a pencil sharpener in their pocket. Never seen these before but have been stick by them.
