A wonderful shot. What is the background? And how did you get such detail in such a thick subject with phase contrast?

Thank you.
The "background" is simply the body of Actinosphaerium, a giant Heliozoan
If about the detail I don't think it is exceptional. I did nothing special apart from appropriate aligning of my lighting system.
