snowflakes

Hello,

in the last two weeks it was really cold in Germany. Good time to take pictures of snowflakes. All images with rheinberg-illumination.

This crystal is quite rare: 12-sided snowflake:

I wonder if we'll have a snowflake for featured photo 2 months in a row. Photo 1 is perfect

How did you manage it to keep them cool enough for taking pictures?
Did you make the fotos outside?

Thanks for the many positive comment :D

@macrochemistry
I took an old microscop with a no name optik outside. I don´t know if the coldness destroy the bonding of the lens. You know it was very cold in germany.

Does anyone have experience with coldness and optics?

@arturo
yes - it was crazy. -15 Grad Celsius and snow was falling. Wonderful single crystals having up to 6 mm diameter. To big for my 5x-objectiv :(

Bye

Gerald
