Paramecium

On Sunday I went for some water at the Miraflores lake, the lake provides water to the Miraflores gate (one of the 3 gates of the Panama Canal).

I found this beautiful Paramecium, it move fast and you have to wait it slow down to start shooting with flash.

All with Nikon TE300, Plan Apo 20x/0.75, DIC, flash and Canon T3i mounted on the front port of the TE300.

On pictures 1 & 2 you can see the mouth at the edge and some cilia near it. On pictures 3 & 4 the Paramecium rotated and the mouth can be seen more inside de body as a channel. On pictures 5 & 6 you can see vacuolas, on picture 6 the vacuola can be seen with its radiating collecting canals. On pictures 3, 4, 5 and 6 the trichocysts can be seen.
