Striated muscle infested by Trichinella spiralis, a dangerous nematode.
Antique stained slide. Leitz NPL Fluotar 16/0.40 objective and 1.56 relay system. DIC. EOS 7D.

Very interesting image. I photographed a similar slide a while back as part of a small set I did on Trichinella, but I think the muscle is better preserved in your example.

Dave, I posted the image because it shows the muscle cell striations well for this low magnification, better with DIC than just brightfield

Rogelio, the DIC system is working, but still very limited, not much progress in last times, but useful within its limitations.
