Bruce, thank you so much for the wake-up call. It is crazy, I have Penards book in my bookcase for thirty years and I have always overlooked that small drawing  Maybe because I was mainly interested in Heliozoa and Naked amoebae. Only the last few years I pay more attention to the shelled amoebae.
Now I am convinced that my organism is identical with Penards one and the one described by Hopkinson. The right name should be Lecythium spinosum, because Plagiophrys-species are flattened. I also think that Franciscos specimen is a new Plagiophrys-species. It looks very flat. It should be nice to have some pictures of that specimen to compare with realted species.

It is exciting that so many species remain undescribed. I wonder how many new organisms I've ignored, simply because I was unable to detect their novelty? :)

I have the rule to record all I watch, on DVD, so I have always a backup file for subsequent checks.

I left some photos, capturing images from my video, so te quality is not good enough, I'm sorry

Best regards,

Francisco

Hi Francisco,

Thanks for the permission. I have placed them here http://www.arcella.nl/plagiophrys-spec
It might be worth to mention were you have found it, e.g. kind of water, location.

An estuarine lagoon, form the looks of it. Seems like an interesting body of water:

Thanks Bruce
It's a good wetland.
The lake is fed by the river Turia and communicates with the Mediterranean Sea through various channels
All around the lake rice fields are flooded with water for several months a year.
Species are found in freshwater and saltwater in the same raindrop
