This is the first time I have seen this ciliate live. And wonder of wonders, I "almost" had the name right the first time. I called it a Stichotrich, which it resembles, but is actually a Uroleptus, a Sub-family of Stichotrichia.

I know that ciliate! It always reminds me a bit of a crocodile. Especially with that contractile vacuole that almost looks like an eye.
I once wrote a fairy tale about it. Perhaps you like to read it. I know it is a bit impolite to add such a link in your post so I will remove it if you don't agree or think it's too silly
