a marine Copepod

Post by Franz Neidl »

This calanoid Copepod (600 µm long) was a fast swimmer. (You can see the colour of its muscles in polarized light).
Obj 20x DIC, without any eyepiece, stack with 5 pictures

Nice colour. Is that natural or added after the fact?

Hello abpho!

The colour is produced by the polarized light. Charles published 2007 wonderful pictures under the title: "Micro-muscles" made visible by polarized light. (BTW: I dont know how to copy this link. I was trying it).
