Composite of a collection of Testate Amoeba from a pond sample. Focus stacks of approx 11 frames each, DIC flash 40X acromat.

Linden, a very nice collection, even if they are empty. I just recently saw my first stone and mortar testate shell and was lucky enough to find it inhabited. DIC really brings out the texture of the structures though that brightfield can't.

Thanks Mitch, I think the one at the top right was the only one which was alive as I could see some movement of a limb.

Ah, yes, I believe your right, and the shell seems to have a color coming through it the others don't have, that may very well be the occupant and his lunch. :)
