a suctorian feeding on a tintinnid ciliate

Post by Franz Neidl »

Up to now I thought that the tintinnid ciliates are almost invulnerable because they have such a strong lorica shell (this one even with little stones), but the suctorians have also a clever strategy...

picture Nr. 1: Obj. 10x DIC (stack with 6 pictures)
picture Nr.2: Obj. 20x Ph (stack with 7 pictures)

BTW: I dont know if the suctorian is a Paracineta or a Ephelota. If you could help me...

Franz
