This is Bacillariaria paxillifer (syn. paradoxa) - a very characteristic marine diatom. Each cell is sliding rapidly up and down along its neighbours (and therefore they are difficult to photograph, because they are almost never quiet).

Hallo Franz,
very nice picture! I found these also in sweet water. If you have seen them moving, you will never forget it.
