Unknown Ciliate for ID please

Hi JC,

I am new to the list and have been away from the micro-world for many years so please take my guess with a grain of salt. It might not be a ciliate but the planula stage of a more complex organism. The ring brought into clear focus in the first picture reminds me of what is seen in onchospheres but usually those would be separate hook-like structures.

I'll be watching eagerly for the correct answer.

I found what looks close to the ring-like structure in a the large ciliate Nassula. Sorry I shot from the hip earlier. A bad way to introduce myself to the forum.

thank you for your reply..don;t worry about the shooting from the hip. I have a permanent limp from shooting myself in the foot!
