My first DIC images of alive specimens

Post by RogelioMoreno »

Yesterday I went for some water to try my Nikon DIC microscope with alive specimens.

All the images with Nikon Plan Fluor 40x/0.75, DIC, Flash and Canon 50D.

Amazing images Rogelio. I really like the diatom. It looks so real. :)

Well I must say those aren't bad for a first effort! That DIC is seriously good.

Rogelio,

Very nice results. Do you get a wide range of "effects" with the way you are set up? Nice neutral color here.

Thanks to all for your comments.

Charles,

I do not have experience with other DIC system to know if I have wide range of effects. I think I have the normal DIC effects, from the crossed (I have Senarmont system) position at one side I get the inverse effect of the other side (I think it is normal on any DIC system). Look at the following to pictures, from a test slide that I received today, one is from the left side and the other from the right side of crossed position.
