Hi Marek--

Wow. Incredible maltese cross figures on all the starch grains in your euglena. That's the most birefringent euglena I've ever seen. Great shot.

That's a real beauty!

Was it a large specimen or cropped a great deal? Seems pretty big in the frame for a 10X objective.

Charlie,

You are right. It was my mistake if about objective. It was the most probably Olympus 40 x s planachromat. This picture was taken some time ago so I must have done not good data.

Hi Marek,
great picture! Shows once more that it's worthwhile to use polarization with biological objects.

Thank you all for the very nice comments.

Ernst,
I agree with you if about using polarized light to biological objects. It gives amazing colours of various structures.
I know you like photographying microcrystals (the one from your earlier post was very beautiful). I like photographying microcrystals too. It is very exciting looking for "landscapes" and other things from our regular world in crystals. Sometimes it reminds me art creating. That's why I like it very much.

Marek
