Hello Jan

Thanks for the note. I think that you are referring to Sphaerocystis schroeteri rather than Schaerocystis. I labelled it Radicoccus because of the clusters of 4 cells in cruciform arrangement and the cells are more spherical than ellipsoid. I believe that this organism is quite rare but it has apparently been found in this area. This is only a guess on my part. I am interested in why you think that it is Sphaerocystis rather than Radiococcus. Many thanks for looking at the picture and for your comments.

The star shaped organism is Staurastrum with the cyanobacteria Anabaena wrapped around it.

The radiant strctures are missing and there for a choose for Sphaerocystis schroeteri.
