3 species of Euglena

Post by Chris_M »

Euglena found in stream and small pond.

The large species is probable Euglena obtusa (first 3 images). I noticed active metaboly movement, flagella was not visible.

Chris,

You have taken excellent photographs. Their quality is very good - colours and details. I haven't expected such quality of achromatic objective. I can see your Nikon objective works perfectly with our Polish DIC equipment. Congratulations !
I'm very interested of the image quality when you will use Olympus S planachromat 40 x with Polish DIC (you have mentioned me in PM that you are going to buy it soon).

Best regards,

Thank you

Marek, 100x works quite well. In contrast 40x suffer to much from chromatic aberraction and it's even more visible on images (although DIC effect is very good, better that 100x). For that reason I'm going to try other objective (like Olympus).
Chris
