Marine biofilm and ?

Post by Linden.g »

I really like the abstract nature of this marine biofilm. I've also add a second image of some form of marine larva. I'm sure I've seen images of this organism on this forum but couldn't find them. Olympus 40x S-Plan Achromat, flash DIC.

Linden,

The second image is a nauplius, a larval stage of a crustacean (search the forum and you'll see it is a popular "subject"). What species I don't know.

Thanks for the ID Charlie, there are a lot of examples on the forum. All shapes and sizes.

The second one looks like one of my Nauplier stage 2 Cyclopoida. I seem to have a whole tank full of them. And they never looked this good in Brightfield.

I also like watching the abstract frames of life when I come upon them.

I saw the Blue Whale, but was trying to keep it serious. But I also saw the Baleen Whale in the next image :)
