Depends where you found it! :wink: Certainly there are diatoms that look a bit like this but I'm suspicious of the 'crackled' finish and the non-symmetrical cross filaments.

I have seen these too, in a sample with radiolarian ooze. But I also don't know what it is. Perhaps a sponge or sea cucumber spicule?

it maybe sponge spicula or ossicles from sea cucumbers (Holoturia)..

That is nice of you to say, Rik. But to be honest, I am not sure if it is a compliment to Arturo when you say that his mind is like mine. :)
