My Darkfield filter is a dime placed on the top glass of the condenser, below the flip out lens. As you see, it works at least as good as those filters costing a dollar or more.

This video shows a Hydra in Darkfield using 10x, 4x and 2x power objectives on a Nikon Fluophot microscope. More of a test to see how the camera would shoot video in Darkfield.
