Having just figured out how to get the old Fluophot to do darkfield, after weeks of attempts and dozens of paper Oblique cutouts, the first thing I tried it on was a Hydra.

Thanks Wim. My condenser has a flip up lens, so no possibility of using it wet. It doesn't even have a flip out filter tray and my darkfield option is to place a dime in the middle of the top glass and open the iris all the way. If your careful to get the dime in the exact center, it works. This is why it took me so long to figure out, I was trying to put cut out paper filters below the condenser or even on the light exit on the base.
