Blood is very interesting stuff. I viewed some mouse blood awhile back, and it was still moving the next day, after leaving the slide on the stage overnight.

What kind of blood was this?

I've got a standing order in with my brother, if he cuts himself, to get me a sample of blood. We're both to squeamish to stick ourselves. But he works with chisels and carving knives, so it's just a matter of time. :)

If you're not bleeding . you're not working hard enough.

I was thinking similar things while viewing the mouse blood. It seemed to be acting rather like it had a plan. Blood is so important that you could ask, which came first, the blood or the artery? :)

The moving leukocyte was truly a delightful sight. In fact I think I'll go and cut myself hopefully catching my own white blood cells in action.

Yes but then you need t take a drop of blood, put it on a slide, place another slide edge on so it spreads across the join, then move the second slide so you get a thin smear of blood and can see individual cells. Dry, stain, and mount.

Chris, with the mouse blood, I used a coverslip, dragged out the smear, then put the coverslip over it. Seemed to work OK.

That would probably work as well. (I used to work in a haematology lab, some decades ago).

HAHA, yeah, decades ago, I saw that done with a coverslip when we took my brother in to get sewed up. They use to do things right in the doctors office then. Were no clinics or other holding areas to make you sit for hours while you bled to death. :)
