Unknown Organism help with ID

Post by jc maccagno »

Hello I am the new kid on the block in this forum + the entire field of photomicrography.

This organism is an unknown to me. Is it a stage of an alga? a Hydra? or is it a ciliate?
Collected in a freshwater pond Sept 2010 examined with a Meiji MX using 40X objective. Photographed with a PaXCam.

Many thanks

That is a flatworm. It has symbionts inside. The brown sphere is an egg. Perhaps Typhloplana viridata?
