Not sure, but... the colour, the form, mucilage... it could be diatoms...

Hello Grant,
I would not exclude the possibility that these are aquatic ascospores (for example: Actidium baccarinii). But of course you need a clearer picture.

To me it looks like the green algae Ankistrodesmus pfitzerii
Is this possible
