This is a marine diatom in Phasecontrast (Obj. 20x). I dont know neither the genus nor the species. Maybe somebody can help.

Hi Franz,

A perfect subject for phase contrast.

You are producing great diatom shots ...I really like the Chaetoceros spp.


This is Asterionellopsis glacialis (used to be Asterionella glacialis, but the marine species were moved to a new genus).
I associate this species with Spring and Autumn, although you can see it at any time in the coastal plankton.
