I should mention that the slide-shifting technique may or may not work well, depending on exactly what objectives you have. Once again it depends on the entrance pupil location. One objective that I've been testing recently is so close to telecentric that I very much doubt there'd be any visible difference between the two views, other than framing. In general, the technique would be more likely to work well at low magnification.
