living Radiolaria: Diploconus sp. (Acantharea)

Post by Franz Neidl »

This is Diploconus (probably D. fasces) from the Acantharea- Radiolaria. It is still living.
Very interesting is the drawing about this protozoon from Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) - the famous biologist: ( ... fel_20.jpg ).

2 pictures:

Amazing that something like that is alive. I hope I never get use to this. :)

An extraordinary living organism.

Thankyou for the link to the drawing.

To use a classic quote from 'Antz' - "I almost know exactly what I'm doing!"
