Image 2 is of a embryo visible to the far left in Spiders No. 12 while the egg ball was still intact and held up by the mother. Slight movements by the mother at this magnification limited the number of images, reducing image depth. It was decided to get the mother to release her brood.

In a struggle with the spider to release her egg ball, the bonds were damaged allowing some eggs to be released. They are extraordinarily fragile and sticky making handling very difficult. Image number 1 was made from what remained with the mother. All were frozen to allow for extensive stacking.

Wow Walter... these last three posts are great!

Fascinating.

The middle image image here makes me think of the scene in Alien where the creature wrapped up the little kid.
