Couple of stacks with a Nikon CF Plan 20 0.5 160/0.17 and Zerene.


Baetidae( mayfly) nymph gills.Partial Cross Polarized/Oblique brightfield.

Hi Will,

I can see some effect in the second image, but was there any advantage to using the polarizers in the first one?

Hi Charles

In the first image the cross polar gave a bit more saturation to what little colour there was in the specimen . I am using a pair of circ photo polarizers facing each other . I noticed anything other than a few degrees of rotation seems to lead to contrast that exceeds the histogram . So I was using it sparingly.
