Cothurnia or pyxicola or Vaginicola tincta???

Post by ABEL »

Hello

This microbe is possibly vaginicola but the core was "red" as a sausage. She comes from a river with water suspended with canes.

Hi Abel,

really great images! Considering the individual features of this peritriche ciliate I would like to say this is Vaginicola tincta. You can recognize this species by the reddish-brownish colored lorica, the cylindrical shape and flat bottom of it and the shape of the macronucleus. On your first image you can recognize the micronucleus very clearly!

Wish you a nice evening!

Martin

It is difficult but it seems to be correct; in effect it is Vaginicola tincta. Thank you
