While so many of the small creatures we see under the microscope are wonderfully bizarre looking, few strike me as "science-fiction" looking as this small shelled amoeba, Diplophrys. From opposite side of the "shell" two branches of pseudopodia extend outward.
Sort of looks like a tiny macabre eyeball floating around :shock:

They can be easily overlooked as they are pretty small, and the pseudopodia are not all that visible.

Well they are definitly visible in this shot Charlie, I did not know these little ameba were even around, pretty neat, learn and see something new everyday around here. :D
