I think this is a larva from a shrimp (Pandalus ?). Somebody could help me to get a better identification? The larva was about 4 mm long.

Hi Franz,
beautifully clear detail as always!
From the appearance of the telson (~tail) I am pretty sure that it is a pandalid larva and I would think a species of Pandalus as you suggest. Secure identification of decapod larvae requires several different views of the animal as they are often identified from details of the "legs". You might like to look at this decapod larva identification key:
Hart: " key to planktonic larvae of families of decapod crustacea of British Columbia"
This is available on the internet....but be aware that in the only version I am aware of, the pages are mixed up !
A short look at this key will make you realise how difficult a firm identification can be. The problem is compounded by the fact that each species has several larval stages, each of which is different in appearance.
Also Franz I have sent you a private email.
regards
Brian
