...haven't posted since before my Amazon trip in late July. I took almost 2 thousand macro pics down there, but of course it is an overwhelming job to process them. As well, I got burnt out on macro for a month or so afterwards. In the meantime, here are a few from the past month or so around here locally (Nebraska).

I really like that last photo, reminds me of how I feel some mornings. Yes, I too would like to see some Amazon macros, bet'cha got some really great shots.

Super shots Ken, and a welcome back also. When I first saw the beautiful dragonfly, I looked at your Avatar to see where you were located, I was thinking some exotic country, than I read Nebraska

It was quite a trip, don't even know how to begin telling the story as it would amount to a book's worth of info. The primary issue photography-wise was the near constant bad lighting. Many of my pics are darker than I would like or have more 'flash' than I would like. I wish I had more photographic experience before I left (only doing this for a year and a half) to deal with these situations.

I of course will be leaking Amazon pics out as I get them processed (my winter project), but here is a sneak peek at a couple views of one of the odders critters I found. I will have to look through my notes as to what this thing is called, buy my nickname for it is the 'fishing lure fly'. It was about 3 inches long and I guess they are quite rare in the area we stayed (near Iquitos, Peru).

I probably won't post any more from the Amazon until I get a bunch processed; in the meantime I will just have to show some of the last months photos here in Nebraska, such as this one:

The beasty with the" tail" is a fulgorid plant hopper.

Excellent -- a name for the beasty! I see somebody else posted one of these elsewhere -- see halfway down at http://entomology.unl.edu/lgh/ipm/log_2003.html . The tails are wax, it says there.

I found the beastie in a book while I was down in Peru. There they called it a "Red-spotted hopper", a fulgorid. I could not confirm this name via google.
