Cleared for landing

Post by gslaten »

These were taken on a bright sunny day during a visit to the Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ last week. The hawk was tethered to a docent's arm and participates in a raptor free flight demonstration.

All taken with Canon EOS 5D, 300mm f/4L IS USM with 1.4x extender

Thanks for looking.

Three super shots there gslaten. I like the way the dragonfly has his legs positioned on that one little stalk and the hawk is very cool looking

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the compliments. It was a good day for insects as well as the animals.

Hey Gary! :o We haven't had a post from you in quite awhile, good to hear from you. A great set of photographs you have posted here, I especially like that hawk. I have a big one that flys near the house here but he doesn't get to close. Thanks Gary! :D

Hi Ken,

Thanks to you too. It was a fun day at the Desert Museum. I will probably post a few more from that visit as I have time to work on them.

Nice! :D But let me give you just a little suggestion. Try to put your ISO and shutter speed settings lower. ISO 1600 is too high esspecialy on a bright sunny day. ISO 200 or less could be fine and 1/1000 or slower for the most of a non fast moving objects. If you make these chnages in the future you will get a much better results in my opinion. Keep shooting.

Noticing of my "a" and "the" and other grammar

Nice shots Gary. Can I apply a little post processing and then post the after shots?

HI there, sorry for the delay. Busy week!

Noise reduction with Noise Ninja... adjusted the tones in PSCS2...

Image
The original is a little over exposed but still a decent shot.

Image
Slight tonal adjustment on this one.

Image
Slight adjustment to the tones... minor sharpening on the eye.

Nice shots all around...just a few modifications...

Hi Hatch,

Thanks for the rework. It is nice to see how they can be improved . I see definite improvements in all 3 of them.
