Mushrooms on a Rainy Day

Post by georgedingwall »

Hi all,

It's been raining here for a few days, so there aren't many opportunites for photography at the moment.

I was out with the dogs this morning during a brief lull in the rain, and took my camera with me. I noticed these small mushrooms growing in clumps in the short grass and managed to get a couple of shots of them before the rain started again. I've no idea what type they are.

I didn't have a tripod with me, so I just lay on the ground and balanced the camera on my clenched left fist and kept as still as I could during the exposure.

This image was taken at 1/5 sec @ F11 ISO 100 using my Nikon D200 with a Sigma 150mm macro lens.

I think it came out very Artistically George. I like it very much. Lots of depth in the picture

I've never really been very good at "Artistic Shots". I trained as a technical/arial photographer, and the training tended to push towards getting technically accurate images.

It's nice when I get the odd image that might fall into the "Artistic" category.

Bye for now.

Curiously, the mushrooms in Your photograph are of Psilocybe semilanceata species, which is hallucinogenic.

The weather is so depressing here at the moment, I could do with a few magic mushrooms right about now.

Thanks for the tip.

Welcome to the forums bioluminescence. I see this is your first post. Good to have you here. I thought the mushroom looked like that one also...but I thought they grew out of cow dung and I didn`t see any dung. The weather is not much better here. Raining and cold to the bone.

I live on a working farm, so there are a lot of cattle around the place. :smt033
