2mm mushrooms revisited

Post by beetleman »

Here is a shot of the mushrooms a view hours after the first post. This morning they look about the same. The setup was the same as the first post. The second picture is a shot of the terrarium with the orchids and Bromeliads. The tank is 4' long 16" high and has four fluoresent bulbs over it. On the back glass is wood and bark and rocks glued to the glass. There is a water section at the far end with some small fish and aquatic plants. It used to be my reef tank, than it was my river tank and now it is my terrarium. Ken, I would rethink the ferns in your tank...they tend to get out of control and send runners all over the tank and are hard to get rid of unless you keep them in the pot.

I think mushrooms grew up a little. :D Nice terrarium you have. Do you have an automatic temperature and humidity regulation? Is it one of Vanda species among the orchids? (Second photo, right-down corner)

Thanks everyone for your comments. Nikola, I do not regulate the temp or humidity, the orchids are not that hard to grow....I always try to pic ones that are not too fussy (they label them easy to grow). I do spray them 3-4 times a day with distilled water and the Temp. is just normal house temp (the lights give off some heat, that is why I have the lights up off the tank a little bit).. As for the orchid in the right corner, it is Ornithocephalus inflexus from Mexico and it is not a Vanda type orchid as far as I know. http://www.tallyorchid.org/showtable/se ... /pic08.htm

I have big fish tank without any fish that I have been longing to fill with plants like you have done. Wow, you sure did a nice job.

Thanks everyone. I actually went out and picked up different mosses and there is a small branch with some moss on it in the middle. Basicly most did great and some are spreading to other areas in the tank. Substrate is pea gravel on bottom, peatmoss and sand mix for soil. I mentioned the ferns to Ken, they started to take over the tank and now it is hard to keep them from covering everything. I did not put them in, they were mixed in with the moss I guess. Take care
