The more recognisable form of opal, precious opal. But this one is not from one of the "standard" localities like Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge, etc., but from one of the very few localities in the State of Victoria. And that's Glenrowan, a town made famous by the bushranger, Ned Kelly.

I love opal. I have a few pieces of bolder opal from Coober Pedy. I always wanted to live in one of those underground houses  Beautiful shots Steve...nice opal also :smt023 (send me some)

It is beautiful! I am not a collector of minerals but I do have some pieces of opal. I think of the minerals opal has the best taste for colors! :) It is a pity we don't have much rocks in my country. It is mainly mud and a lot of water!

Hi Wim

There are a lot of mineral collectors in the Netherlands, but maybe they go to other places to collect.
