Welcome back..three very nice pictures Hatch. The mantis shot is very cool..he is cleaning his weapon after the kill..that looks like an antenna stuck to his blade  Also, the miner bee shot looks interesting...if you look close, he is latched onto the twig with his jaws, his legs are withdrawn up close to his body, it just looks like he is hanging there. I wonder if he has that "Summit Disease" I posted about a few posts back "CAUTION GROSS" (also white sporelike things on his back). Was he moving around or did he fly away? Is that you in the waterdrops with your flash? beautiful Shots :smt023

Very nice shots, The bee is in a common sleeping position, many bees and wasps take that very position at bed time. Your drops by far beat the best I have ever managed to get.

Those shots are absolutely stunning. Before I read the comments on the Bee, I thought maybe he was doing his exercises :smt003 Also love the caption for the mantis. That's priceless.

It is cool, and it does look like that.

But I think the apparently stray body part is just the lower portion of the mantis's own leg, held in an unusual and misleading position. See for example here and here.

Many thanks for the great comments all. The bee was cleaning off the back legs. I've seen them do this over and over. Pretty cool to see really... many times after they dig a hole they will clean off.

The mantis was fun to photograph. They have such a look to them.

Glad you enjoyed the drop shots... ust messing around really. I think I had all 3 tubes on and the 1.4x TC as well. Good itmes!

Thanks again, Hatch
