Vleilelie (Orange River Lilly)

This belongs to the Amaryllis family. A decoction of chopped leaves is taken for rheumatic fever.

Very nice here Joan, beautiful

I will be glad when the flowers begin to bloom around here. I am planning on getting a few to have outside the house for bees and other insects to visit this summer.

A good idea Ken, creepers like Honeysuckle always attract a lot of bees which in turn attract a lot of birds.

Beautiful Lilly this one Joan. Nice shot. Maybe if you could get a little diffused flash inside, hard to do though on these. Have to love those colours.

Hi Danny, hope things are well down your way. Sorry I have taken so long to reply but it is hectic here at the moment with end of financial year stuff.
You are right, a diffused flash inside would have made a ig difference, but I did not think of it at the time and will try it the next time I get to take a pic like this.

Thanks Doug. I have a special love for flowers and bugs (WHAT a combination!! LOL!!) It is such a pity I do not have a garden now.
