Another visitor to my office

Post by JoanYoung »

This little 1/2 inch grasshopper decided to pay me a visit in the office and give me a break from my heavy work schedule. I have never seen such a day-glo grren and it cannot be much good for camoflage.

First he hopped onto my desk to get my attention....

Image

Then he decided to pose on the blinds of the window...

That is so neat, I have never seen a hopper that shade of green. Hey this isn't one of those plastic fish bait hoppers is it? Everyone seems to be finding these brightly colored critters here lately, com'on fess up, where's mine now. :?:

Great shot there Joan, very nice. :D

Thanks Ken. AH!! You caught me out!!  It was one from my fishing gear!! Just kidding!! I have never seen one so bright, but this story does not have a happy ending...sadly I took him outside and he hopped under a car which rode him over. Poor thing!! Anyway the ants had a great snack. Maybe I will post those pics too sometime sort of like a before and after. No, that sounds gross!!
I am sure you wil be finding nice bugs there too, but in the meantime I am enjoying your pics of early spring buds ans look forward to seeing more.

That _IS_ a vivid shade of green.

and if little hoppers didn't land under cars, we'd be over-run with grasshoppers, and not have anything green to eat (except grasshoppers, and we've established that neither of us wants to eat insects....).

A great find Joan. I agree on the green. I would like to see the ants and the road kill

Super pic Joan. You've done a great job preserving detail in such an intensely coloured subject -and a such tiny one at that.

Love the eyes!

What a gorgeous green !!!. Nice textures in the hide as well there Joan. Excellent eye detail and must be a good office if this is what comes to visit.

All the best Joan.

Danny.

Thanks Danny. I get gecko's spiders, snakes, bees and all kids of creatures in my office. It is set half way up a hill with a terrific view and lots of open land around for these critters to breed. But I have not found anything yet which as made go screaming down the stairs.
