I had a chance (job) recently to photograph several small pieces of Murano glass jewelry. The glass is imported from near Venice, Italy. Here are 3 samples:
Michael
D200, D300, or D2x
with
60mm Nikkor, 105mm VR Nikkor, or 180mm Sigma
Beautiful Italy is known for some interesting art work, been there many times in my travels, though Venice was not one of the places visited. Good photos there Michael
You did very well on these Michael. I worked in a bead store and I know how hard it is to take pictures of glass and swarovski crystals. Italy has been producing glass artwork for centuries

Thanks, Doug and Ken.
I was asked by a local jewelry company to do some product shots for their web site. They let me use their "light box" which was a
MK Photo eBox Plus. It has soft light on 3 sides and the bottom. You can see it here: http://www.mkdigitaldirect.com/lighting ... x-plus.htm
A little pricey, but it does work very nicely. I found the glass to be interesting, so when I finished their work I took the above close-ups for myself.
