I rarely see any butterflies in abundance around where I live. Though sometimes I do run across a number of them elsewhere. Never seen one quite like this one before though. Quite a nice looking specimen. :D

A very beautiful picture & butterfly. I love that metal bird  Is this a butterfly garden at the zoo with tropical butterflies?

Doug, Yes it is a butterfly garden. I think that most of the butterflies (and a few new giant hummingbirds) are natives of Costa Rica. It's not very large, but quite warm and very humid (as one would expect). It's a nice place to visit in the winter when the crowds are not so large. The main difficulty is the condensation that forms on my equipment when entering from the chill of a Michigan winter. I get some strange looks as I sit there for 1/2 an hour waiting for my "Zip-locked" gear to acclimate to the drastically different temperature.

A beautiful butterfly Michael. I think I should go back to our butterfly garden again. :)
