Winter Randoms, how we perceive things

Post by Ken Ramos »

Though spring time is rapidly approaching it is not fast enough. Sort of like "road kill," fast food but not fast enough. Anyway these are not quite out of the norm but still...

Lichens normally seem to be uninteresting little things but kind of like snowflakes, no two are identical or so it seems to me. This one caught my attention because of the flowing shape of the thalli and overall appearance, something akin to a melted plastic shampoo bottle.

Image

An unlikely subject but one with a certain beauty, an ordianry pine cone. Let your imagination roam for a bit and you might see the interior of a lit cave, with alien life forms massed along the walls and ceiling. Yeah, it kind of reminds me of one scene in a movie I once saw many years back. :-k

I like them Ken especially the unusual pine cone, but I am afraid I do not have much of an imagination as I cannot see your cave or aliens!! :D

I wonder if Lichens dehydrate for the winter? The pine cone is wonderful Ken, full of great textures and shapes. I would need snowshoes to walk out in the woods up here. Snow & sleet today...sleet & snow tomorrow..snow on Saturday. Spring is far, far, away.........

Doug asked:

I am not sure Doug, but I really don't think so. They are or seem to be a very rugged life form. Now that I think about it, some of the most beautiful, I have seen, have been high in the mountains during winter time.

Thanks Doug, Larry, & Joan :D
