Could it be, a Grand Illusion

Post by Ken Ramos »

Normally I look at Daffodils to be the harbingers of spring, an indicator species, if you will, one of which that foretells of a much more pleasant climate to come to the mountains and the foothills of Western North Carolina. Though, however, I have noted many times in the past that they are preceded by an even lesser flower, one whose identity eludes me for the moment and that I have added to my list of indicators, which hearld the coming of spring. :D

This tiny flower is only about 2 maybe 3 mm. in size and is at present growing very close to the ground. Though it is still mid-winter, it seems that life is awakening at the ground level. Our temperatures have been quite mild, unseasonable actually and we have had an abundance of rain. More than likely there is still bad and cold weather to come but for the moment a glimmer of hope. :D

Beautiful pics Ken. I hope that spring will soon be there for you. But I am not sure if you should get your hopes up right now as it seems a bit too early for it!! Sorry!! :)

I'd say your flowers should Come Sail Away, but if it is truly a harbinger of Spring, you'll be Rockin' the Paradise! :-({|=

Thanks Mike and Cyclops :D Yes they are a tiny little flower. I figured the "Grand Illusion" header would stir up a fan somewhere.

Thanks Jordan and Doug. I suppose it is my anticipation of the arrival of spring that prompts my diligent search for signs of new life or growth. :D
