In looking over one of my pond samples I found a midge pupa that appeared about ready to emerge. I put it in a small "tank", but things progressed much more quickly than I expected. I only got a couple of images before it emerged very rapidly. Then I got just a few shots more before it flew off.
Well Ken, as you know so well, as long as this midge is sitting there admiring it's new "form" you could also call it "fish food". So I would think it would want to get airborne as soon as possible.Amazing how quickly those wings extended from that casing
