Mammillaria gasseriana

Post by cactuspic »

Surprisingly, the new year is always one of the most exciting times in the greenhouse. Many of the white mammillarias are flowering. Ranging from the southern Unitied States through Mexico, Mammillarias are typically short cacti whose flowers form in a circular pattern at the top of the plant. Many times they offset and clump. This is a small plant in a 3" pot. 43 image focus stack

Hope you enjoy

Thanks Dave. Its still a pretty tiny plant.

Some of my Mams are flowering, like laui, plumosa, scheideana, geminispina, and others are setting up. Across the pond, are yours on the same short day flowering cycle?

Bit early for mine yet Irwin, particularly in an unheated greenhouse because we have only just passed our shortest day (Dec 21st I think). I think there may be the odd flower, but I hardly go into the greenhouse in winter. The plants stand the cold better than I do!
