Knitted cocoon - ID appreciated

Post by MacroLuv »

Made of dry twig pieces. :D
I found it on the ground where it was almost invisible among surrounding colours and shapes. I put it on the vine leaf just for photographing purpose and after that I placed it back on its original place. Didn't want to disturbe this little cradle too much. O:)

If I had seen this in North America I would have called it a bagworm larval case; Lepidoptera: Psychidae

Thanks Tony. :D
A kind of moth?
I wonder how it made the case. Does it cut the twigs or just collect already cut / broken pieces? :-k

Had it been in water and not on a leaf, I would have been shouting "caddis fly." Interesting shots there Nikola :D
