This is a stick grasshopper, about 5 inches in body length, but he is so well camoflaged, you could easily miss him.

A couple of good close up shots here Joan. The hopper looks to me, more like a blade of grass than a stick but what ever works for the grasshopper, eh

Wonderful, fun shots to add to a very interesting series, Joan. It seems to be a fine line when taking pictures of camoflaged bugs. The bug has to be hidden enough to where you have to look to see it and evident enough to be able to find it.

This guy give new meaning to "GRASS" Hopper. I like the dead grass (tan areas) look to the joints on his hopping legs and the areas on his legs and antennae. Super adaptation. Excellent photos Joan of a very interesting Creature.

It seems to be a fine line when taking pictures of camoflaged bugs.

For some reason I seem to find things like camoflage and adaption of insects fascinating, and am pleased to find that it is enjoyed by others. But then, I find most things to do with all aspects of nature fascinating even the stuff posted in the microscope section.

They are extremely camouflage capable.

I know what you meant Joan.

They are so confindent in their camouflage and looking a bit lazy but if you disturb them too much they can fly very well. Excellent fliers! (If you wake up them from lethargy.)

After these pics he decided I was getting to close and took off. As you say, they fly very well.
