Forestants

Post by Edwin Bont »

Long time no see ! :D
I always hated resizing my pictures, I am happy with the 800px rule (hooray).

Here are some forestants I shot lately.
Big, mean and fast, but I like them.

These guys like fresh food, the catterpillar was still alive.

Although he tried to attack me at first, he fled and tried to hide. (dont be afraid, I wont hurt you  ).

A firm bite.

Is that everything you used to get these images? So you stacked lenses? or are you just listing what you use in general? If the later, what did you use for these photos? I agree, these are amazing (I especially like the "firm bite" pic just because of the timing)

Yes I stacked everything :D but that didn't work so wel.
I used the mp-e 65, 420ez and a small softbox for these shots.

The key to clean clear images is: iso 100 "exposed to the right".
And good light that is diffused and not too close (close=to high contrast, inverse square law).
When you "exposed to the right" you wil save a lot of postproccesing and get good colors.
Colors degrade rapidly when you underexpose, and you get more noise too.
I can focusing fast now, just a matter of practicing (conditioning basicly)
I try to be calm and watch the composition too, I miss a lot of shots this way but the shots that i get are better.

I discovered that i work exactly the same as John Shaw (i bought his book last week).
