thanks joan, the bees sure did love those matilija poppy's. there was about 10-15 bees around each flower at most times because there so big. i only got one but was happy, 10 would have been to distracting.

A very nice "in flight photo". No flowers left up here in the cold north (I can take pictures of frost on the bare branches)

hey thanks guys, beetleman we have a very light winter here, sometimes it never gets below freezing. maybe once or twice a year.

ken, theres a lot of species of monkeyflower over here, i can think of at least 4 kinds. its a real great wildflower and the plant is actually sticky to the touch. i took a few clones and have them rooting now so should have my own next season. i like the bee shot too 8)
